Deputy-Involved Shooting Under Investigation in Dunnellon
State and local authorities are investigating a deputy-involved shooting in western Marion County.
The Marion County Sheriff's Office reported Tuesday night that the shooting involved a Levy County Sheriff's deputy in the 23,200 block of West Highway 40 in Dunnellon.
The roadway was closed following the incident.
Levy County Sheriff's deputies and agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement were at the scene investigating.
Details surrounding what led to the shooting and information about possible injuries had not yet been released as of early Wednesday morning.

School Board Plans $160 Million in Borrowing for Construction
The Marion County School Board is moving forward with plans to borrow as much as $160 million to accelerate school construction and renovation projects.
Board members reached agreement during a September 3 work session following weeks of discussion about the district's capital needs.
Projects include renovations to Booster Stadium, the historic home field used by Vanguard High School.
At the same time, board members have shelved a controversial proposal to build a new $35 million central administrative office.
The decisions represent a significant shift in the district's plans for addressing school construction needs as Marion County continues to grow.
Ocala Holds First Budget Hearing Tonight
Ocala residents have an opportunity tonight to comment on the city's proposed spending plan for the upcoming fiscal year.
The Ocala City Council will hold a special meeting and the first public hearing on the fiscal year 2026-27 budget and fire assessment at 5 p.m.
The hearing takes place at Ocala City Hall.
A second public hearing to adopt the final budget and millage rates is scheduled for Tuesday, September 15 at 5:01 p.m.
Ocala Dementia Center Receives New Resources
The Empath Dementia Education and Care Center in Ocala has received new laptops and books designed to help expand education and support for local families.
The center opened in March and serves people living with dementia along with their families and caregivers.
Services include an adult day center, caregiver education classes and programs designed to help families understand how dementia can affect communication and behavior.
The new computers and educational materials were donated Tuesday and are expected to help the center connect more families with available resources and services.
Boil-Water Notice Issued for Edgewood Area
Marion County has issued a precautionary boil-water notice for the Edgewood area following a water-main break.
The notice was issued Tuesday evening.
Residents affected by the advisory should boil water intended for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth and other consumption until testing is completed and Marion County announces that the notice has been rescinded.

Ocala and Marion County law-enforcement agencies are preparing to comply with a state directive involving license-plate reader cameras.
According to the Ocala Gazette, the change will eliminate 10 of the Ocala Police Department's 68 license-plate readers, along with an unspecified number operated by the Marion County Sheriff's Office.
