South Marion High School Opening Draws Closer

Preparations continue for the opening of South Marion High School, scheduled for August 2026.

The campus will be the first new public high school opened in Marion County in more than 25 years and is expected to serve approximately 2,000 students. District officials continue staffing, training, and operational planning ahead of the new school year.


Summer Feeding Program Continues

Marion County Public Schools continues its Summer Feeding Program at locations throughout the county.

The program provides free breakfasts and lunches to children while school is out for the summer. District officials estimate more than 140,000 meals will be served before the program concludes later this season.


County Leaders Review Growth and Infrastructure Needs

The Marion County Board of County Commissioners is expected to address several growth-related issues during upcoming meetings.

Topics include transportation improvements, infrastructure projects, and development proposals as county leaders work to manage continued population growth throughout the region.


Marion County Reads Program Remains Active

The Marion County Public Library System continues its Marion County Reads initiative with programs at library branches across the county.

Activities include reading challenges, educational workshops, children's programs, and community events designed to encourage literacy and lifelong learning.


Summer Recreation Opportunities Available

Marion County Parks and Recreation continues offering summer programs and youth activities throughout the county.

Officials encourage families to explore available sports leagues, camps, and recreational opportunities as students enjoy their summer break.
