Water Conservation Measures Continue Across Marion County

Marion County residents remain under drought-related water conservation restrictions as dry conditions continue across Central Florida.

Officials are reminding residents to follow one-day-per-week irrigation schedules and reduce unnecessary outdoor water use. The restrictions are designed to help preserve regional water resources until conditions improve.


Marion County Reads Program Continues

The Marion County Public Library System's Marion County Reads initiative remains active throughout the county.

Today's schedule includes educational workshops, technology assistance programs, wellness activities, and family-oriented events at several library branches. Officials say the program continues to attract residents of all ages throughout the summer.


School District Continues Hiring for Upcoming School Year

Marion County Public Schools is actively recruiting employees ahead of the 2026-27 school year.

Open positions include bus drivers, instructional personnel, and support staff. District officials say additional hiring opportunities and recruitment events are planned throughout June as schools prepare to reopen in August.


South Marion High School Opening Draws Near

Construction and staffing efforts continue at South Marion High School ahead of its anticipated opening later this summer.

The new school is expected to accommodate approximately 2,000 students and will be the first new public high school opened in Marion County in more than 25 years.


Summer Recreation Programs Underway

Marion County Parks and Recreation continues offering summer camps and youth programs throughout the county.

Officials encourage families to explore available opportunities as children enjoy their summer break. Activities range from educational programs to recreational events and outdoor experiences.
