School District Leaders Hold Work Session Today

Marion County Public Schools administrators are meeting today for an Administrative Briefing and Work Session as preparations continue for the 2026-27 school year.

District officials are expected to review operational updates, facility projects, and planning initiatives ahead of students returning to classrooms later this summer.


South Marion High School Opening Nears

Construction continues on the new South Marion High School, which remains on track to open in August.

The campus will be the first new public high school built in Marion County in more than 25 years and is expected to serve approximately 2,000 students. School officials say the new facility will help alleviate overcrowding at several existing schools.


Summer Programs Active Throughout Marion County

County-sponsored summer camps and recreational programs continue throughout Marion County as families settle into the summer season.

Programs are being offered through parks, recreation facilities, libraries, and community organizations, providing a variety of educational and recreational opportunities for residents of all ages.


Marion County Reads Continues Across Library System

The Marion County Public Library System is continuing its Marion County Reads initiative throughout June.

Residents can participate in reading challenges, story times, educational workshops, technology assistance sessions, and community events at library branches across the county.


Mobile Health Unit Available in Dunnellon

The Florida Department of Health in Marion County will have its Mobile Health Unit stationed at the Dunnellon Public Library today from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

The unit provides access to health information, screenings, and community health resources for residents throughout the county.
