Summer Feeding Program Begins Across Marion County

Marion County Public Schools has launched its annual Summer Feeding Program, providing free meals to children throughout the county while school is out of session.

District officials estimate approximately 142,000 meals will be served this summer at school campuses and community sites. The program is available to all children ages 1 through 18 and requires no registration or paperwork.


County Commissioners Continue Focus on Growth

The Marion County Board of County Commissioners continues addressing issues related to the county's rapid growth.

Transportation improvements, infrastructure projects, and public safety investments remain priorities as officials work to meet the needs of a growing population. County leaders are expected to review several planning and development matters during upcoming meetings.


Summer Programs Active at County Libraries

The Marion County Public Library System is offering a variety of summer activities for residents of all ages.

Programs include reading challenges, educational workshops, children's activities, and community events designed to encourage learning and engagement throughout the summer months. The Marion County Reads initiative is also continuing at branches across the county.


Forever Fessenden Scholarship Announced

Marion County Public Schools has announced the creation of the Forever Fessenden Scholarship, a new opportunity designed to assist eligible students from Fessenden Elementary School as they pursue higher education.

District officials say the scholarship was made possible through the generosity of a local donor and will provide ongoing support for future students.


Hurricane Season Underway

With the start of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season, Marion County emergency officials are encouraging residents to prepare now.

Residents are advised to review emergency plans, stock disaster supply kits, and stay informed through trusted local information sources throughout the season.
