2024 Teacher of the Year in Marion County

 

Jennifer Brown received a three-year lease on a new Subaru from Jenkins Auto Group when she was announced as the 2024 Teacher of the Year during the 34th Golden Apple Gala on February 3, 2024, at the Reilly Arts Center in Ocala, Florida. The Public Education Foundation of Marion County revealed the winner, and Jennifer Brown from Forest High School expressed her gratitude to the audience and her fellow finalists. The other finalists included Miranda Brogan from North Marion High School, Alysia Hoekstra from Maplewood Elementary School, Timothy Mathews from Horizon Academy at Marion Oaks, and Stephanie Prisciandaro from Osceola Middle School. Congratulations educators! We are so grateful to you and your hard work in our community.

Live On Stage: THE SPITFIRE GRILL

 

This is the final weekend that you can experience the musical "THE SPITFIRE GRILL" live on stage at Ocala Civic Theatre. The last show will be on February 25.

Follow the story of Percy Talbott as she seeks a fresh start in the town of Gilead, Wisconsin, working as a waitress at The Spitfire Grill. The show explores intertwined lives and the mysteries of the town, featuring a folk-flavored score of songs.

Directed by Greg Thompson, this production promises a warm and generous heart, offering 15 performances on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
