Marion School District Initiates a 'Literacy in the Community' Campaign

Marion County Public Schools has initiated its "Launching Literacy in the Community" campaign, aiming to promote strong literacy skills and a love for reading. The campaign includes videos featuring local prominent figures emphasizing the importance of reading in various careers, an essay contest for students, and various resources for students, parents, and families. This initiative coincides with Florida's statewide "Celebrate Literacy Week" to emphasize the significance of literacy skills in society.
The first video is of Rashad Jones of Big Lee’s BBQ (kicking off the campaign), followed by College of Central Florida President Dr. Jim Henningsen, local surgeon Dr. Adetayo Lawal, Ocala Mayor Ben Marciano, and MCPS Principal of the Year Michelle Cino, among others.

For more information and to participate, just visit the Marion County Public Schools website and click on “Launching Literacy”
