Marion County Schools Gets a “B”
It’s not just students that are taking home their grades this time of year, the grades for the school in the Marion County Public Schools have been released.
Several schools received an A but the average grade for the entire district is a “B” Those schools that received an ‘A’ are Dr. N.H. Jones Elementary, Eighth Street Elementary, Ina A. Colen Academy, Madison Street Academy, and Ward-Highlands Elementary. Notably, Ward-Highlands Elementary improved from a "B" to an "A" grade.
There are currently no failing schools in Marion County according to these grading standards. The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) introduced Florida's Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) as a new test aligned with the B.E.S.T. standards. FAST provides real-time data throughout the school year to support student improvement.
