A 7-year-old boy hailing from Ocala recently made history, earning the title of the nation's top javelin thrower in his age group. Joseph A. Sorrentino, III secured the first position in the boys' javelin throw (8 and under category) during the 2023 Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympic Games, which were held at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, spanning from July 29th to August 5th. Remarkably, only Sorrentino and Valentine managed to launch their javelins beyond the 80-foot mark, surpassing all other competitors in the event.
